Welcome to Burman Nursery and Infant School

Our supportive Governors, experienced Staff, around 214 enthusiastic learners and I, are excited to welcome you to Burman Nursery and Infant School. We are a family and values led school, incorporate Building Learning Power within our teaching and hold our children at the heart of all we do.

At Burman we believe that learning is the most exciting journey in life and it is a privilege to support and guide our children on their way through their early and infant years, here. We pride ourselves on our nurturing and supportive ethos (which is often commented upon) and where safeguarding and wellbeing are paramount.

As the Headteacher of Burman Infant School, I am proud to say that we strive to make  our provision the best it can possibly be, in order to meet the needs of every individual and to offer quality learning experiences that are purposeful, progressive, enjoyable and memorable.

Our Core Safeguarding Principles

Prevention

positive, supportive, safe culture, curriculum and pastoral opportunities for children, safer recruitment procedures.

Protection

following the agreed procedures, ensuring all staff are trained and supported to recognise and respond appropriately and sensitively to safeguarding concerns.

Support

for all learners, parents and staff, and where appropriate specific interventions are required for those who may be at risk of harm.

Working with parents and other agencies

to ensure timely, appropriate communications and actions are undertaken when safeguarding concerns arise.

  • #1 Pupils feel safe in school because they know that adults are there to look after them.
  • #2 Reading is a priority. There is a strong focus on developing pupils' love of reading and encouraging them to read daily.
  • #3 Pupils have positive attitudes towards learning. They are keen to learn. Pupils enjoy coming to school and attend regularly. Ofsted - March 2023
